How do i know if everything is running fine? & ESD question

My PC parts come in tomorrow and i am pretty excited

After installing the OS and whatnot, my question is, are there any programs i should run to make sure everything is running fine? like cpu/ram/etc?

Also, should i be worried about ESD? im not planning on using a wrist band. I will be building in the kitchen where there is no carpet. Can i ground myself by touching kitchen sink? im not sure if i can touch the case since there is no unpainted areas in it. (antec 1200)

Any large metal object is fine. You can buy ESD gloves if you wanna be extra careful. Although I suspect any rubber household glove will be fine for hat purpose.

My car seems to shock me quite a bit. and it's entirely painted. So touching the case will be fine IMO.
