I'm very close to buying a combo deal that includes an AMD Phenom II 710 and a Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P motherboard and I have a few questions regarding the Hypertransport compatibility. The motheboard is capable of speeds of 2000MT/s Hypertransport but the new Phenom II's are capable of 4000mhz. What does that all mean?
I was about to get the deal but someone on these forums told me that the 710 won't be that much of an improvement in performance because of the hypertransport on the motherboard. The combo deal is for $129.99 so I'm basically getting the board for free.
Also, if that board's going to significantly reduce the speed of the Phenom II, could someone kindly point me in the direction of a moderately cheap motherboard that won't?
