Should I use AHCI ?

AHCI doesn't corrupt your HDD; why would it?

To switch from IDE legacy emulation mode to AHCI Serial ATA mode you would need a registry tweak; google on that.

After you changed the registry item, you can enter BIOS, enable AHCI, and boot back in Windows.

I highly recommend that you backup your system, change the BIOS settings to AHCI - compatible mode (as far as I understand, "enhanced mode" is for IDE drives) and re-install your OS ... easiest and safest way to go.
