I am interested in purchasing an e8400 intel cpu but the heatsink that the seller is offering is a heatsink that came with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 he is not sure if it will work or not.

Would that heatsink (q9550) work and be compatible with the e8400 if I decide to purchase it?

Thansk for your help

they are no good if they are aluminum core

if they are copper core they are fine for 3.4ghz maybe 3.6 keep it under 65-70c with orthos and hot room

get a good cooler its worth it - sounds like tiger - buy it somewhere else

I'm not really looking to overclock at this point. This is an office PC with a slow 2.0 ghz core 2 and I want to upgrade it to 3.0 ghz (e8400). Does anyone know for sure is the quad core q9550 stock heatsink/fan will be compatible with this e8400?

Keep in mind that I am not a heavy hardware/overclocking hobbyist.

overlclocking is not for hobbiest it speeds up production

i build only oc systems and sell then to graphics people, lawyers and traders > last 3 customers!
