I have upgraded to a QX9770 and my Zalman 9500 just isn't taking the strain. What should I get?

2 words Water Cooling, It will make the most of qx9770. I have the Swiftech H20 220 sytem on my E8400 at 4.2 and it never gets above 45C in prime 95, so should cool the quad ok. Any water cooling kit should be fine.

was that a very cheap QX9770? because if you bought it retail it was a bad deal.... befitting water cooling though, based on the price you would have paid

use a true or xig

you get 4.2ghz to 4.4ghz with xig or true -- 4.4ghz with dual fan set up

make sure you push TC into the gaps on the xig

look here at photos: http://www.warpedsystems.com/index [...] &Itemid=17

then add TC and spread heavy and evenly across the cpu - add a second amount in th center and spread the size of a penny

totally wrong the unlocke multiplier allows higher air cooling

you can run it at lower fsb and get much more stable system - plus many mobos will not run high fsb with the new E0

yes water gives you 4.6ghz but the voltage is too high

air is just as good at the safe and sane voltage of 1.45-1.5v

That still doesn't make the 9770 worth it over something like, say, the $500 cheaper QX9650, also with an unlocked multiplier...

i agree the qx9650 is not only cheaper and the same thing but it may acually be better!

i never bought any 9770 but plenty of qx9650

lov that gpu air cooled at 4.2ghz it screams!

yes - the $500 premium is rediculus and it is designed for oems like dell who probably get them half price!

wait i did have one! just one and got rid of it - we tested both
