Fan speed troubles

The fan on my PNY 9800gt wont go above 25%. I used rivatuner and fixed the speed to 60% and applied to windows startup. and that worked until I rebooted. After reboot it wasnt the same.. I cant keep the fan speed above 25% because it just goes back to 25% on its own after a few minutes, usually when I start a game.

Had this problem with my old XFX 9800gt aswell..

Am i doing something wrong?

um, that is quite strange but what is wrong with 25%?

IIRC, the 9800 GT is a die shrink of the 8800 GT. my 8800gs ( a modified 8800gt) ran quite cool and i often had the fan at 35% when overclocked. the 9800gt prolly runs cooler than my card.

60% is pretty loud ain't it?

i like to run it cool and the fan helps drown out the neighbours tv! lol

just out of curiosity, do you live in michigan?

and on topic, graphics cards are tested at 100 degrees celcius so i doubt you are running into any heat problems. 25% should be fine but run a game for a while and open up rivatuner monitor and look at you temps. 55-75 C is totally fine.
