Ok i searched for vista 64bit windows updates and I see any optional update as "ATI Technologies Inc. - Display ATI Radeon HD 4850 Series" What is this? its 16.7MB and the link for more information doesnt work. Ive already installed the latest drivers from sapphire as my graphics card is made be sapphire and is the dual slot version.
Any one know what I should do? What would it be? I dont want it to be a old update for the card some how and give me decrease in performance, the software was released in August, 2008 and the latest driver ive downloaded was released in I think 9th of the January 2009.
Sapphire may have put it on there site on 09/01/09, but they probably put an old one on. Most board manufacturers are slow to update and are always a bit behind. The update you see in Windows update is in fact a driver (although it's quite small, but it must be without Catalyst Control Center).
Sapphire are better than most then I wouldn't bother with the update. Although there is a "hotfix" for 8.12 that was released for HD4850s in CrossFire and this might be it. In any case, 8.12 is the latest official driver, so I wouldn't worry.
