I have an Asus P5Q pro mobo and ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB card.
I thought it odd that the driver installed is called ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series instead of 4870.
Anyway Asus Smart Doctor can't get info on this board so it doesn't run and Ai suite and EPU-6 Engine don't seem to see it either.
When I download the driver from ATI site it got installed as ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series.
Help!

The driver installing as '4800 series' is normal, no problem there.

Is your 4870 made by Asus? I think they have their own firmware, so the utilities will only work with the cards that they make. If so it may be that you need the modified catalyst drivers provided by asus to make the utilities work.

I have an Asus 4870 512mb, I tried using the asus catalyst drivers and the included utilities but found them to be buggy and bloated and just generally not worth it. Ive had the same experience with their mobo utilities, they make good hardware but the software sucks. The standard ATI drivers work just fine for me, no headaches but if you really want to use the asus utilities good luck.
