I currently have an E6550 2.33ghz running on an ECS31T-M http://tinyurl.com/77qwvp motherboard.

I have a 24' monitor and it can't handle games like warhammer at 1920x1200 very well.

I'm running a 8600GS and want to upgrade my video card to the HD4870 (or something similar). Will my system handle this video card?

Can I OC on my system safely? I was told my motherboard was not meant for overclocking.

Your board can hanlde a HD 4870 because PCI-E 2.0 is backward compatible with PCI-E 1.0.

About overclocking, well P31 is a good board but for OC'ng,P35/P45 do better, also OC'ng depends on other specs of your PC too like PSU,RAM....

Btw plz dont make 2 threads :) ask both of your questions in a same thread :)
