Hey,

I have an Amd Athlon 64 x2 5000 2.66 GHz proccessor. I want to overclock it to around 3 ghz as I think that the 2.6 ghz is bottlenecking my graphics card ATI his 5770 1gb. Is it possible and if it is how and where do I do it? How much more will the power consumption be? Thanks

By the way my motherboard is an AMD690VM-FMH.

I suggest you search around on Google for 'AMD Athlon 64/Athlon 64 X2 overclocking guide'. Download Prime 95 and Real Temp, Prime 95 is to test stability and temperatures while Real Temp is to monitor the CPU temperatures. Try to keep below 55°C if possible, a few degrees higher is ok but not recommended. As for the power consumption, I wouldn't know sorry.

Same processor, same graphics card, same suspicion, thinking of the same OC solution. I'm still on a stock mobo though so am looking to get a new mobo first. Please update if you find any useful advice/get any results, and I'll do the same.

Yes i did find a solution to OC my processor my mobo doesnt allow it so i software oced with Clockgen to 3GHz. It has helped a little bit but not as much as i have expected but a bit is a bit.
