I have a AM2+ 9750 quad 95w with a foxconn AX78S. Just upgraded from an AM2 duel core wich only took ddr2 800 memory. I just got an ATI 4890 and was wondering if I should upgrade the ram to DDR2 1066 and if I would see any preformance upgrades. Any info you can give me would be a great help, thank you.

You can overclock the memory if the motherboard supports it. It would be a waste of money to upgrade though; there will he almost no improvement.

probably a waste of money to just upgrade RAM .

You do gain a bit with phenom but its probably in the order of 2% which isnt going to add a lot of fps

Ok thanks for the info guys. My mb does support ddr2 1066 and i do have a Memory fan over my two sticks (4gb) of ddr 2 800, but due to the weird thing about overclocking your prossor affecting your ram overclocking (phenom 9750 2.4ghz O.C. 2.55, ram is siting at 425mhz (850) and im kinda affraid to oc these to 1066 (more like 1130 with my cpu overclocked) Not sure if thats safe

If u already have DDR2 800 then its noth worth it to upgrade to DDR2 1066 since the difference between 800 and 1066 isnt much, and u wont seee a noticeable difference in performance
