I'm noob when it comes to motherboards change
I'm changing my dell 710 btx motherboard for Asus P5Q Deluze atx but this not my concern.
After I replace my motherboard can you tell me how I need to install the windows with SATA driver, Motherboard driver and how to set up Raid.
The motherboard don't come with any driver disk but I have donwload them from Asus website and burn them on CD. When I’ll Install windows will I have to add Sata drivers when prompt ? and can I do Raid after installation of os is completed?. Any guide would be useful. I can use nlite to create disk with sata drivers but do I need to get the driver from dell or Asus ? Thanks and sorry I made this so complicated, It’s the first time I’m changing motherboard and installing windows with raid and sata HDD.
Windows XP with SP2 does not require SATA drivers to be installed at the F6 prompt. If you happen to have a Windows XP disk with SP1 or earlier, slipstream SP2 on to an install disk. Vista does not require SATA drivers to be installed either. After installing the OS, load the system/MB drivers and get all updates from Microsoft updates. A RAID array must be configured before the OS is loaded. You will have to boot the system to the Windows install disk to load the OS. Set the first boot device in BIOS to CD/DVD, insert the OS disk and save and exit. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD do so.
I have windows xp media center 2005 edition with update rollup 2. In my motherboard manual its says to enter bios to set up raid, do I still need floppy disk for raid driver or don't need any driver to set up raid Thanks
That I'm not sure. Check the MB product webpage for a floppy disk RAID driver downlaod. Send ASUS support an email and ask if you have a problem with the RAID driver.
Yes in manual I have information that I can crate floppy disc with driver from Asus cd or (I have specific name of the file) and it need to be used during windows Installation.
