Just looking for a decent PSU that can fulfill my current needs, plus maybe some in the future.

Right now I have
AMD x2 6000+
9800GT
1 HDD
1 DVD drive
Mobo- Jetway HA06-GT
1 80mm fan.

HDD and DVD drive are both connected by a molex connection, and the 9800GT is using a PCI-E to molex thing.

All on a 500w power supply, made by SmartPower

Thinking of going to atleast a GTX260 and a triple core in the future, so I'll need a new PSU, and I honestly don't know the first thing on whats needed and where. I tried looking at the FAQ and got lost >_<

Only requirement is a decent one that doesn't cost a fortune.

Thanks!

I always use this website to help in my PSU decisions. http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx
Stay with the top two tiers if possible and you won't go wrong.

+1. I'm not sure of the BFG PSU quality, but add these to the list: PC Power & Cooling 610, Corsair 650TX. <== More future proof.

Thanks for the info guys.. one other 2-part question;

My current PSU is a SMARTPOWER 500, amps are
35, 32, 17, 19, .3, 2

It has 4 different sections to become modular to hook up extra molex / pci cords.

Where can I buy the cords, and will it be sufficient at powering a 9800GTX+ or GTX260?

Here is a link to a power supply calculator:

http://www.antec.outervision.com/

The result will be the total for the entire system and it will be overestimated because there are a lot of cheap, low quality psu's of questionable performance that people insist on buying.

Corsair, Seasonic, and PC Power & Cooling are all high quality brands that consistently earn high marks in technical reviews and comparisons. They are stable and very reliable. They're often recommended by veteran posters at this forum.
