Phenom X4 vs Phenom II X3

I currently have an AMD Athlon X2 5000+ and am looking to upgrade to either the Phenom X4 9750 or the new Phenom II X3 720BE.

Gaming isnt really important, more for general computing, video editing, photoshop etc.
Both can be bought in Austrlaia for around $250 so which would be better?

Id say the 720, less power needed, and itll outperform the slower quad

Definitely the 720. Not heard a bad word about it yet. If I were to build right now I'd probably go with that chip!

If you are going to buy a Phenom right now, you most definetly want to get a Phenom II. For what you are doing, I would even suggest that if you are not too terribly restricted on your budget, go for a Phenom II Quad. (Photoshop loves more cores)

I'd opt for the Phenom X4 if cores matters to you.

Phenom II X3 if you want a good all-rounder.

definitely the 720 , but check your motherboard makers site for cpu compatibility . You may need a BIOS update to run it in your existing computer

yeah its running at 2.9ghz, is it worthwhile upgrading to the X3 II?
