This weekend a trojan virus was delivered to my computer via a fake UPS delivery status email I unfortunately opened. The virus made it appear I had a hard drive problem and I would lose files if I did not purchase their "Data Restore" product from Data Restore.com. It gave me fake error messages and hid my desktop background and icons, as well as my programs and my documents.
After I used Norton Security 2012 and MalwareByte software, the deceitful little trojan was killed.
Turns out the trojan only hid my files on my computer so after the trojan was resolved,
I had to un-hid my desktop icons and my documents files and folders.
I clicked on the following to see my files again:
Start, My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View, Show Hidden Folders, OK
Hope this helps.
As of now, I still can't see all my programs but I know they are there I just need to keep searching. It the main thing to remember is your files are still there.
