Hi all,
I'm looking for a midATX case similar to this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112157

Basically, I want a midATX sized case, except the smallest one possible. I want to be able to take this desktop as a carry-on in a luggage. I think that this case may work, except that it is too expensive. I also dont like the build, personally (it seems that the PSU is weirdly placed). Do you guys know any cases that fit this sort of requirement (an extremely small midtATX) that I have not found?

I am in a similar situation. Any good, cheap, and small midATX cases you know of? I'd like a case that's less than 18" height. Antec 300 might be a tad bit too big.

Thanks.

The lian-li case I linked is a good bit smaller than the Antec 300 at about 14.6 inches in height. it only has 3 internal 3.5" bays, if that is a factor for consideration compared to the Antec 300, which has 6. I'm personally looking for a similar case which only has room for 3 bays and just enough room for the mobo without going to a microatx mobo. I just dont want to spend that much on a case if my build is only going to cost around a thousand.

That case is too expensive for the build I'm trying to fit it in. We're trying to keep the build's price around $550. I'm thinking the Antec 300 case is probably the only good case that will fit into that budget. It'll just barely fit into one of our suitcases, so I was wondering if there were any smaller alternatives. Oh well... it'll have to do.

Thanks anyways.

Wow, nice price and a good size too.

Will that case fit this build and cool it efficiently?

(AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3) and (BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX) combo
XIGMATEK HDT-S963 92mm Rifle CPU Cooler
Corsair 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
MSI N250GTS-2D1G-OC GeForce GTS 250 1GB
Western Digital 320GB 7200rpm
OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W
Pioneer Black 20X DVD±R

And if I decide to go with an Intel build, this cpu and mobo instead?:
Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P43

Thanks!

According to the specifications at newegg.com the case dimensions are: 5.8" x 15" x 16.1"

With a case width of 5.8 inches the larger tower style heatsinks will not fit. Idon't know about the XIGMATEK HDT-S963 92mm Rifle CPU Cooler. The new extra long video cards will not fit either.

I just bought the cooler master elite 360. Your cooler might not fit in it. Also you need to find the smallest psu possible if you are going to put a high powered gpu in there. I have this one installed
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256032&Tpk=st400
it comes right to the edge of the mobo. While I'm sure with that psu I could stick a 8800gt in there it would be REALLY tight.

It has room for a 120mm on the side panel, on top of the CPU. also it has room for a 80mm on the bottom. (not included) alongside the 120mm on top of the case that is included everything should breath nicely. However the HDD may get hot as there is no direct flow over those areas. So don't go putting raptors in there and you should be fine.
