790GX Motherboard

Howdy guys, about to drop some cash on the 955, mobo, and hard drive. I wanted a few of your opinions on which 790GX board would be the best, personally I'm leaning toward the Asus model. The Gigabyte 790X board is an option but the lack of a ESATA port and power LED is a big turnoff, but if one of you guys have had a really positive experience with it or any other 790 board let me know. Thanks a lot!

i have the AM2+ version of the ASUS, and i love it, works great, is stable with overclocks and has decent spacing on the pci-e 16x slots, with 2 dual slot GFX cards, still left with a pci and pci-e x1 slot

anyone know about the MSI board?

I've read a small review from Maximum PC for the MSI board but it wasn't as detailed as I would've liked it to be.

I have the Asus board running a 720 BE and 4gb of g-skill DDR3 1333 RAM and a 4870. Its great. Stable and fast lots of things in the Bios. I wanted the Gigabtye one but it was sold out at the time and this board is great. Having the HD3300 IGP is nice if your GPU dies or your just dont need any thing fast.

That's one of the biggest selling points of the 790GX chipset to me aside from the price, when my AGP card died I was effectively screwed till I managed to find a temporary replacement (FX5500 yuck!). Good to know you had a positive experience with the ASUS board.

I'd go for the ASUS board myself, as I've good luck with ASUS boards overall. Through the years, I've only had one stinker design from ASUS, but they handled the RMA without questions and finally got it right. I've had two MSI boards and was disappointed in them. I do think the Gigabyte 790X looks good, but haven't read of anyone with real usage of it.
