I am considering building a new computer with

Mobo: ASRock A780GXE - Newegg Link
Graphics: SAPPHIRE 100225L Radeon HD 3870 - Newegg Link

I was planning on buying two of the Radeons and Crossfire'ing them. However, when I went to the mobos manufacture's website the “Crossfire Support List” on the product page doesn’t list my video card as one that is crossfire compatible with this motherboard. In fact, it only lists about 9 cards that are compatible!?! What gives? Is this mobo’s crossfire functionality really only compatible with these 9 cards – I’ve never heard of a mobo restricting itself to only a few cards.

I think that's just the list that ASRock has actually tested within their labs. I ran into a similar situation when I decided it was time to upgrade the graphics card for my ASRock 939Dual-SATAII. Looking at the VGA Support List for that board, it only lists 5 ATI X300 graphic cards, yet I've had no troubles with the card I installed (8800GTS-640).
