I receive the error message "Setup was unable to use the existing system partition because it does not contain the required free space." I am trying to install Windows Server 25008 r2 on a 2TB empty hard drive. The partition is showing as healthy and empty. If anyone can help I would be very greatful.
When you start the installation, go into the advanced options and check the partition layout of the drive. If there's a partition there, delete it and let Windows install into the unpartitioned space (it will create a partition and format it before installing).
It MAY be possible that your motherboard doesn't support installing Windows to a 2TB HDD. If that is the case you'll have to install it on another HDD (or even need to unplug the 2TB HDD for Windows to recognize the other HDDs)
