p6n diamond board
q6600 overclocked to 3.0
500 power supply
8 gb of memory
500 gb hard drive

zalman cnps9700 cpu cooler

I have a 680 watt power supply I was thinking about taking back to upgrade my video card. Is it necessary to do so. If so what card should I get

im in quite a similar situation as you are in, i have a 8800gt 512mb and have been told that another 8800gt in sli would be a very good idea as they work very well together, so i pesume you could do this with yours

OR..

you could look at getting one single big gpu like possibly depending on your budget a gtx 280? possibly even a gtx 295 if you have the money

having a look around and i think around 550 is like a minimum but you say you have a 680watt psu? in that case that will be Plenty and i doubt that it will be lacking to power them both :)

I would say that it all depends how much gaming you do. I am an average gamer and I had the 8800GTS 640 mb, then upgraded to the 9800GTX and now the GTX295. Am I glad I did it................YOU BETCHA!!! :bounce:
The only thing that you have to keep in mind is that with an upgrade you will probably have to upgrade your power supply as 500W does not cut it for most high end gaming cards.
