Weird XP boot option after fresh install

I just reinstalled XP on one of my computers and now I am getting a boot option I have never seen before. Right after the post I am presented with two boot options, GUI or TXT. It has a 10 second delay. Why am I seeing this? I have checked my boot.ini file and it does not show these options. It only has a single entry, the standard one you see after installing XP. What is this other boot option and how do I get rid of it?

write: msconfig - then enter or OK
Boot.ini and then click "check all boot paths".

The problem went away by itself after I ran windows update and install 500 million security and software updates. Man! I wish there were a way to make a new XP install disk that was fully updated with all the SP, security and software updates already installed.
