I am a photographer. I need a new video card. I use Monaco Optix for calibration. XP Pro.

I seem to remember that my calibration software likes nVidia cards, so I prefer to stick with nVidia. Im not a gamer, but I need a card that works well for calibration for digital photo work. I do not need frame rate and rendering like a gamer.

What do you recommend. Below is my system...

-Abit IP-35 Pro Rev. 1.1 motherboard with bios dated 5/26/2008 (Intel P35 Bearlake chipset)
-4 gigabytes G.Skill dual channel DDR800 (PC6400-CL5) memory (2 X 2gb sticks)
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor with 8mb cache @ 2.4 ghz - G0 revision(easily overlocked to 3.0ghz at 1333fsb).
- NEC CRT.

Is is true that my card requirements are somehow less than a gamer? Calibration is the important thing to me. What nVidia board(s) are best for me. Any great values that are one step away from the bleeding, expensive edge? I see 8600 GTs and lower model numbers on sale on CL and in local surplus stores.

Help me choose a card !

If you are not planning on gaming a low-end graphics card should suffice, that way you dont need to worrk about power connecters etc.

What graphics card are you using now?

every nvidia card comes with the same calibration software, and all the 8800 and above cards have the same improvements for colour.

all in all anything in the 8800 range will be good whether its low or high end.
