cool, let me add a few thoughts.

q6600 is what i would go for.

since you're going w/ nvidia dunno if you want sli or not, i'd recommend a p5q pro

maybe an OCZ PSU as they are on sale & good quality.

and lastly i'd go for an antec 900 case instead.

but these are only my suggestions, in the end choose what you think is best.

Here you go:
* q6600 & OC to 3-3.4 gHz, just make sure you get an aftermarket CPU HSF, like the Xigmatek s1283 w/retention bracket.
* p45 based mobo, SLI/Xfire isn't as good as it should be, so I'd stick with a high end GPU instead of spending for a SLI/Xfire setup.
* gtx 280 or 4870x2 for maximum performance on 1 GPU.
* Corsair 650tx or 750tx for additional savings. Not sure on XION reliability.
* 4 gb's of DDR2 800 mHz is going to handle 95% of OC'ing on the q6600, so don't spend the $ on faster RAM, because it's usually just DDR2 800 mHz that has been OC'd by the manufacturer. I'd just make sure that you have fast timing (4-4-4-12) and is at stock voltage of 1.8v.
* Antec 300/Cooler Master 690/Antec 900 cases are all good and resonably priced, depending on where you buy it from.

These changes will be less than your original build and will perform quite well.

I agree with these posts. Since money doesn't seem to be an issue the cooler master seems like a nice choice. I love my Antec 900 though!

I like the p45 boards, nice performance with midrangy price.

What do you guys think of the 4850 X2 cards in the 300-350 range?

Yeah 4850x2 would be a good buy too, but since he had already allocated ~$500 for 2 GPU's, I suggested the 4870x2 for ~$480 or so. The 4850x2 is a good buy for ~$300 after MIR's is a good deal too. Just don't know if the 4850x2 was enough for the OP's needs or not.
