Hi, new to the forums
having some ram troubles
i know i shouldnt mix and match ram but under a tight budget here
i set my bios to auto manage the voltage and timing for the ram
i should have 6gigs all together but vista only displays 4gigs
i thought bios would underclock my newer ram to match my older one

so i was wondering if its a good idea to overclock my old ram
here is the specs on the ram
this is my old ram with the 5-5-5-12, 1.8v 800mhz
http://www.directron.com/991529.html

and the newer one is
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034

personally i dont think the overclock wouldnt be that major
but still sorta new to it

or do you think i should manually set the ram to 5-5-5-12 1.8v

i do have a asus p5n-t deluxe and i hear the auto tuning on it is horrable...................well accually i hear the whole board is horrable.........................and i very much agree stay away from that board lmfao

Not sure how you're counting 6gigs. The stuff you linked are both 1gb sticks, so with 4 of them that's 4gb.

Secondly, you should probably just underclock the new RAM as that Mushkin stuff doesn't look too great. You can certainly try it and see if it works but in general RAM doesn't have a big affect on performance so you'll just have to decide if it's worthwhile or not.
