Performance problems with AMD X4 940

I recently installed this cpu on the specs in my sig and i didnt flash the bios, whenever i try to access my computer in windows it runs slow but in games its fine is this because i need a bios flash or because i need to reinstall windows?

What bios do you have. You might have to flash it. I had to and i have the same board you do mine is rev 1. Do you have revision 1 or rev. 2 of that MB? Rev. 2 requires bios FB to run pII 940 shown here http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSuppo...
