Why do they put S-Video on Video cards? for instance I have just purchased a gtx 285 and I will have it hooked up through hdmi or DVI to my 37' monitor. What good would the S-Video do me? I'm thinking its for computing on the screen and outputting video to TV via Svideo but have wondered this for a while.. Sorry if dumb question..
S video is simply an older technology to, like you said, get the display to a tv.
I personally, if I were going to on my computer and HD LCD tv, would output the video over a VGA cable by using a DVI to VGA converter on my card. (Because, my tv only has a single HDMI, my card has 2 DVI's...one with the computer monitor..., and the tv doesn't have a computer resolution over 1680x1050...VGAs general maximum.)
