HELP new build problems

i need advice on a problem im having with my Hd, just put my new comp together and trying to load vista prem 64bit and it tells me i have to load drivers for my hd it is an oem wd640gb hd ''no disk for drivers'' i have called tech support at gigabyte and talked to 3 different people having me do three different things figured id come here and see if anyone had any suggestions, bios does recognize hd, when i first start comp one short beep so i guess everything is hooked up right. gigabyte ep45-ud3p, wd640gb hd, corsair 750w psu, also i let vista try to find drivers still nothing, hopefully i have explained my problem so people know what im talking about any help PLEASE!!!!!!!

you setting up a raid?

check the bios and turn off all raid options in advanced options.

do you get similar symptoms when installing xp or win7?

Your drive will have to be in IDE mode to work without drivers. You set this in Bios.

Right now it is in Raid or ACHI mode and need drivers in those modes.

Set it to IDE mode or put the drivers from the mobo CD on a thumb drive via a different PC.

no raid, not installing xp or win7 its a new build and all i have is vista64 premium just a single 640gb hd

Set the SATA port to IDE mode like roadrunner197069 suggested. I'm 99.9% sure it will fix your problem.

Is there anywhere I can go to get the drivers for wd640gb, other than western digital..they have drivers for 500gb not 640, does it matter? Vista does not have the drivers on the disk and gigabyte doesn't drivers on the disc..unless I'm doing something wrong..

You dont need Hard drive drivers you need your sata/ raid drivers if you refuse to go in the Bios and set the drive to run in ide mode.

Look at the options for your drive in the bios, and set it to ide mode.

i did set the drive to run in ide mode hd doesnt show up when i try to install vista, it does show up in bios
