I have a motherboard whose only available expansion slot is pci express x16, and I have a device that uses pci express x1. Is there any way I can put this device in my computer? Or is there something like a usb adapter for this device?

Yes, you can add the device, no problem. PCI express is designed to always support x1 devices, regardless of the fact the slot itself can support more. Basically, that x16 slot will "handshake" with the device and will slow itself down to x1 speeds. :)
