System hang problem xp

Hello, I have win xp sp3 2gb ram laptop but it gets frequently. Also when I press save as, browse buttons it takes 3-5 minutes to respond. How can I rectify these problems?

Might be anything, save your stuff on CDs and reinstall the operating system. Try running some antivirus first
