I recently was converting a MKV file to another format, and the on board NIC stopped working. Once the encoding was complete the NIC started working fine.
I have:
DP35DP
Q6600
No overclocking
2 GB of ram
4 TV tuners
I was recording a TV show and encoding a file and the darn NIC would not connect to the internet. The second the encoding stopped, we were there. Also, the encoder used 25% of my quad core CPU and the fan was running louder than usual. The disk was very busy of course as well.
I heard rumors that since the on board NIC was sharing the PCI bus, that if I was able to saturate said bus, I would have no NIC, but I am not sure if I could saturate the bus with what I was doing - just wondering if anyone knows.
