I am trying to install win xp on this pc. I don't know the boards ref.
When I am almost at the finish I get a blank blue screen no error msg's nothing.
Anyone know what might cause this? I bought a new hdd for this thinking it was something wrong with the old hdd I was using, but the problem remains. And i don't think it's the cd fault because I had a similar freeze with an ubuntu cd

Note: For more info on why I don't know which board this is .> http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/foru [...] otherboard

Well, i could hazard a guess but no idea for sure. Do you have SATA on this board? Older boards require a driver to be installed by hitting f6 when prompted and inserting a floppy with the sata drivers for that particular mobo. You still need to figure out which board you are using.

could be your drive or your HDD is corrupt

I have ide. But if it's corrupt how does it get to "Last 13m" of the install??

How many volt is the memory you have? Make sure its set to that in the bios. I've had installs go to end and crash because of ram voltage being to low.

This is a picture of the ram that I have for the board:

Any way to tell what voltage should be set in the bios from looking at these pictures?

Your xp disc might be busted, try another one. If that's not the issue, it might be the hdd.

Well, you've tried two different hard drives. So it prolly isn't two bad drives. Its possible to have ram issues with a windows install. But unless you know what ram it is...

Although the problem you're having certainly sounds like a drive issue.

My guess is your friend had a mobo he couldn't get to work, so he gave it to you. Unless you find out exactly which board you have, it prolly isn't worth the hassle to try and install windows on it. It may never work.

Hey I got some more photos of this motherboard. I used the flash and they look pretty good, maybe someone can spot the boards model somewhere.
They are all here -> http://antoniocs.org/board/new/

I give up... I can't spot the mainboard info.

All I remarked were sis 900 lan, cmi8738 audio, gfx pro video.

I found it on the back!

The photo here show the id of the board -> http://antoniocs.org/board/new/IMG_0993.jpg - The number on the right are the id.

Now I have to find the manual and see why this crashes

Kinda looks like an old ECS board to me, the EA=xxxxxxxxx was used on some K7S5A boards I used a while ago. I looked at the ECS website but I couldn't find the board, maybe it was an OEM. ECS made tons of OEM boards.
