Lan port not working on my Asus P5Q Pro Board?

I'm building my new e8500 system for Christmas and just ran into my first problem. After installing Vista I have been unable to get Vista to find my internet connection. When I plug the cable modem into the lan port in my new system board the signal light on the modem does not go on and no LED lights go on anywhere on the LAN port. Is there something I forgot to do? I'm really hoping this isn't a problem with the board itself..... I can plug in my cable modem to my old computer and everythng works just fine....

You need to install the drivers for the network card before it will work. The drivers will be included with the motherboard.

Thanks! I got the lan port to work! I thought the the cd that came with the board was only to update the BIOS. You made my day! Any thanks for all of your other help in helping me make my new system!
