I have a new GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R ATX Intel Motherboard and I am building a new Core I7 system. I have it all together, but I have not yet bought a PCI Express video card. I wanted to test out the system to make sure it booted, so I stuck in an old ATI PCI video card and booted it up. I get no strange beeps, but no video at all. Is a PCI Express video card required? I tried the card in both standard PCI slots and still no video.

I will answer my own question, it is not required. The monitor went bad. :-(
