hello all,

I am making a topic to see if my computer is build for a gammer. i think i mite need to make some changes. but maybe not. maybe even add on.

i will post my hardware and the site to go and see what it looks like. and the software. here they are.

Microsoft Windows Xp pro verison 2002 sp3
AMD athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core 4000+ 2.09GHz 1.00of ram

hardware:
MSI mortherboard K9AGM-FID (MS-7242) i hate this mb b.c it only allows me to have only 1 pci X16 2.0 And if i want to put more video cards in i cant do that so i have to upgrade my mb.

MSI video card Nvidia GeForce 8600GT
NX8600GT-TD512EZ -TD Series

HDD WD 40GB

hmmm there is nothing wrong with AMD X2s get that part stright but a good duo will eat it alive...personly i would pay more so you don't have to keep upgrading

IF AMD I would go for a 790 chipset but make sure it has the new ATI SB750 than I would get a 9850 or a 9950 depending on price and as for teh graphics it depends on alot of things so I can't say, you must have chose teh 8600 for a reason..no?

why not go for a 9600GT

for the hard drive instead of buking about with the HDDs get a bigger one like a 160Gb to 200Gb should be ideal and from seagate or WD

as for intel well a P45 chipset mobo like the asus P5Q or on those lines and a duo E6800 or a Q6600 would be ideal
no more than 3Gb of RAM on any and you can just stick with DDR2 800... its too late for me to go hardware hunting and I m liky to get distracted x_x

yea i was thinking about that.. but then again just little more i can get a Fantom Drives G-Force MegaDisk 2TB External Hard Drive - eSATA, USB 2.0, RAIDO/1 or the Fantom GreenDrive 1TB External Hard Drive - eSATA, USB 2.0. and the p45 chipset mobo will it work on my cpu ? and also does it have at lest 3 0r 4 pcie 2.0 slots? b.c more likely im gonna be puting more then 1 video cards in it for more performance.

why i chose the 8600 bec it was cheap. and at that time i didnt have much money to build my computer i had spent under 900 buxs. and thats with out the Monitors and dvd burners.

Well for the P45, it can take 2 ATI cards in a Crossfire config, however 3-4 in very very unlikely to give you much more power and is way too costly for what it looks like your aiming for. Also remember you can only have 2 identical cards in Crossfire.

The P45 will not accept your current processor, I would recommend the E8400, or the Q6600 from Intel based on your preference of Dual or Quad core. Those both run around ~$180, if your looking for cheaper consider the Intel E5200 for ~$80, or the E7200 for ~$130. All are decent processors but the more you pay the better you get, and you may want the quad core(Q6600) for the future anyway.
