My buddy and I just built the following setup:

Motherboard: Asus P5E-VM HDMI
RAM: 2GB (Don't remember brand, buddy built it)
Graphics: PNY Verto GeForce 9600GT
Processor: Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53 Ghz

OS: Windows XP Pro, new install

I originally tried Ubuntu, but I'm more familiar with XP so when I had the problem of all downloads being corrupted, I switched back to XP. Still, I haven't been able to identify the cause. Every file bigger than 0.5Mb gets corrupted.

Any ideas? I'm stumped. Thanks in advance!!

Where are you storing the downloaded files? You didn't list a hard disk or any other type of storage.

It's a western digital 300GB 7200rpm HDD. Currently it has three partitions thanks to partition magic. XP is on the first and primary partition. I intended to install Vista on another, and OS X on another eventually, but not until I figure out the download issue.

run memtest 86+ and prime95 to make sure your system is stable.

Also go to the mobo manufacture website and make sure you have all the newest drivers

Did so, everything is up to date and memory checks out fine.
