Installing the SeeYou Mobile flight software makes MediaPlayer quit working. The dfevelopers says they make no changes which should affect MP. Any hints on how isntalling a new program might cause Media PLayer o stop working appreciated.

Is it really MP? Did you try uninstalling SeeYouMobile and that fixes it?
And a reinstall stops it working again?
It may not be SYM, it may be coincidental that you noticed it or it happened
around this time.
If uninstalling doesn't fix it you may need to restore a recent backup if
you can't find the cause. Get it fixed, do a full backup, reinstall the
program (after a soft reset so no running programs interfere) and see if you
get that effect immediately after a reinstall otherwise you can't be sure of
the cause. It may even work correctly.

What they think is happening is that 'taking control' of the hardware buttons for the SeeYou application draws out a bug in MP. The hardware buttons can be assigned various tasks by the user in SeeYou. Seems MP does not like this at start up time and it ends itself. If anyone has seen this type ofproblem before and knows how to avoid it.......
