Hello,
I INSTALLED AVAST ANTIVIRUS A FEW DAYS AGO. NOW WHEN I TURN MY COMPUTER ON, WINDOWS XP ATTEMPTS TO START UP BUT GOES TO SLEEP MODE INSTEAD AND RESTARTING AGAIN WITHOUT MY PROMPTING AND GOING TO SLEEP MODE INSTEAD OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
FEW AVAILABLE OPTIONS AT THIS POINT:
SYSTEM RESTORE WILL NOT RESTORE
SAFE MODE WILL NOT WORK ONLINE.
I AM FU,... ED.
I HAVE RUINED TWO COMPUTERS THUS FAR DOWNLOADING AVAST BEFORE REALIZING THAT AVAST WAS THE PROBLEM
HELP ANYONE.

Safe Mode doesn't have to be online for you to uninstall the programme you believe caused this. Just restart and press Function 8 before Vista loads then select Safe Mode from the Advanced Boot menu.

By the way, it isn't going into Sleep Mode - that's just where the monitor goes.

I've had that problem before and when i installed it in safe mode there wasn't a problem.
It is the reason i know have a test PC.
Just install it from the exe in safe mode like saga lout said and you should be fine.
