Hello All,
I am very puzzled by the fact that my new system simply wont display anything and i have been staring at blank screen. After the initial power on, the system would turn itself off in about 10 minutes. Initially I thought my motherboard and my video card, which is a Gigabyte EX-58EXTREME and a Sapphire HD4870x2, had issues. I returned them to Newegg to replace for new units but the exact same problem persist: After turning on power I see a blank screen.
The following are my system specs:

CPU: Core i7 2.93Ghz, X58 Chipset
Memory: OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400)
Graphic: Sapphire HD4870x2
MoBo: Gigabyte EX-58EXTREME
Power: Tagan ITZ Series 1100W
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

I suspect my CPU is defected. But since my full tower case does not come with the Speaker led wire the system emits no sound when powering on.
Can the power supply be bad? Or memory compatibility? But I am not seeing anything on screen.
I already spent over $2000 on this and I really would like to see that it works!
PLEASE HELP!

I did this my first build and it sucked first of all i7 is 3 mem sticks not dual and also gigabyte only support ddr3 1800 in tripple configuration. I copied and pasted this from tiger since newegg did not have any info on memory for motherboard

Memory Supported: 800MHz DDR3
1066MHz DDR3
1333MHz DDR3
Triple Channel Supported, 2100+ MHz DDR3
notice the bold!
and
"OCZ Gold 4GB ("2 x 2GB") 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400)"

LOL hard sucks ~.~ I misread my memory support first time I built my mobo.
hopes this helps :na:

Hi Kelfen,
Thank you for the information! I will get another stick and try your suggestion. Wish me luck and I will post a follow up note!

one quick question, since OCZ Gold 4GB ("2 x 2GB" ) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400) comes only in 2-set package, must I purchase the tri-channel set with lower memory bandwidth (PC12800 is the highest I can find on TigerDirect), or can I just get another of the same pack and just plug another stick in?

You have to get Tri-channel

Darnit - I saw that he had the same problem and hoped it would solve mine. Alas, I have a quad core, not i7. Hope you get something decent, Kelfen. I got a paperweight. A $1300 one, if I can't fix the problem.

even with two sticks it should work properly. Its like having 3 sticks of memory in a c2d system. It works just fine (not in dual channel mode tho) but may be unstable in case OC.
in the same way there should be no problem powering up the system with just one stick of ddr3 ram
