I am having a hell of time trying to clear a BIOS password from a Dell Dimension 2400. I have tried every trick I know of, outside of using third party software. I have removed the CMOS battery and power supply for over a day, still a password. I tried clearing NVRAM through Dell's soft reset, as outlined in their guide here: http://en.community.dell.com/forum [...] #18794690. Which I couldn't seem to get to work, I did not hear a beep after pressing <alt>+<E>.
I tried attaching a jumper to the 2 pin CMOS reset, the machine wouldn't power on.
Does anyone know why I am having such a hard time with this infernal BIOS password? Let me know if there is any additional information necessary to solve this dilemma. The BIOS is a Phoenix ROM bios version 1.10 A05. The motherboard is a dell f5949.
