OC i5 750 on Stock Cooler?

I just finished my PC build ( :D ) and I'm thinking about overclocking.

It's an i5 750 with the stock cooler.

How much OCing can I do with it on the stock cooler? It doesn't have to be much, maybe get up to 3Ghz or something.

Also, how can I "stock" overclock it? (i.e. OC without changing the voltage)

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can OC it with the stock cooler to just about 3ghz. Make sure you keep an eye on your temps though. Why not just get an inexpensive aftermarket cooler like the coolermaster hyper 212+? For around $30 you can get an excellant cooler that can OC the processor 3.5+.

Just run Prime95 with either Coretemp or Realtemp open to monitor your temperatures for 10 to 15 minutes to see where you stand at stock, then you can decide whether you have the headroom to OC it.

lol
When I bought my CPU & mobo at Fry's I was seriously considering buying that exact cooler.

If I decide to OC, I'll probably pick one up.

IMO I'd get an aftermarket cooler even if I wasn't planning on going past 3.0ghz. When I first got my i5, I really didn't like the pushpin set up and I placed the hs incorrectly (didn't push the pins all the way in) and my temps were way too high. After I reseated everything temps went down, but I was still uncomfortable with the pins so I switched to the CM 212. Temps have been fine ever since 44 at load 32 idle, but I'm only OC'ed to 3.2ghz.

^ my E7600 Isn't stable under Prime 95 for 5 Hours plus on stock cooling (well it is i just don't like my cores @ 69'C) so IMO i would buy a Third party cooler anyway (as i have)

+1 For the Cm hyper 212 + For price Vs performance it cant be beaten!
