I recently upgraded my video card (to Nvidea 8800GT) in a Dell Dimension 9200 running WinXP Media center SP3. Since then hibernate and stand by no longer work, the system goes down and right back up. It does not stay in the state by restart immediately.
Yes I have updated my video card drivers and all associated software, the BIOS, the chipset. I called BFG and Dell to no avail.
No one has yet offered a solution, Anybody out there with an idea of what is going on?
I actually talked to someone in our IT dept. this morning and he said that the power supplies in Dell computers are generally under powered. He said that the power supply may be the reason why it cant hibernate. I find this strange since it would need less power than when running....but what do I know. I remember having to power the video card with the extra cable when I installed it, the other one did not use that.
Anyone else with a thought on that?
