When I installed build my computer when I turn it on all the lights and fans come on but nothing comes on the monitor. is this normal? it should show some kind on feed back.. what do I need to do?
the cd drives work, the hdd light is on, even the cold cathodes work perfectly.
Is my motherboard or CPU dead because i still have my 30 day warranty...

Did you remember to plug in the 4/8 pin (2x2 or 2x4) 12 volt connector for CPU power?

It's also possible that you are overloading the PSU with the cold cathode lights. What could be happening is the load on the 12 volt output has pulled it down out of tolerance. This will remove a control signal from the PSU that the motherboard needs to boot.

Disconnect the lights and see if the PC boots.

A very common reason for that is the ram. I am assuming you get no beep. You can try booting with only one stick of ram. Or you can try booting without it to see if you get the beep sequence for no ram detected.

If my first two suggestions didn't work, it's time to dig a little deeper.

Clear the CMOS RAM. (This works often enough to be worth doing.) Your motherboard manual will tell you how. Make sure the HSF is properly installed. Turn on your PC. If it's still broke, continue on.

Disconnect and unplug everything but the PSU, CPU & HSF, power & reset switches, and the system speaker from the motherboard. When you turn on the PC, you should hear a series of long single beeps. (Depends on who wrote the BIOS, pattern might be different.) This will indicate a memory failure. (You do not have any memory installed, remember?) In a way, this is very good. This tells you that your PSU and CPU are good, and the motherboard is probably good.

If you get silence, either the PSU, motherboard, or CPU is bad. One other possibility is that you have something installed improperly in the case and it's shorting out the PSU. The only practical way to determine which is bad is to test by substitution. Most likely failure (in order) is PSU, motherboard, and CPU.

If you hear the beeps, turn off the PC and install one memory module. Turn on the PC and you should hear one long and two or three short beeps indicating a problem with the video card. Silence indicates that the memory module is shorting out the PSU. Long single beeps indicate a really bad memory module. Test and install the rest of the memory.

Turn off the computer. Install the video card and plug in the monitor. Turn on. System should boot and pass POST (single short beep), and you should see messages on the screen. If not, your video card or monitor is bad.

If you see messages, turn off PC and plug in keyboard and mouse.

If this works, start plugging the other components one by one.

This can be done before installing any of the parts into the case. This is called "breadboarding" (from the 20's). I always breadboard a new build. It lets me test all the parts before I install them in a case.

I dont hear any beeps at all and I tried 2 properly installed speakers... also is it normal for the whole pc to turn on when I turn on the PSU and not even touch the case switches? the case switches dont work either but the power and hd leds do.
Im thinking the motherboard is dead.

You hear beeps from the motherboard itself. You need that speaker attachment. It comes with the motherboard. I can't find any pictures of it on the internets.

Also, there are red lights on the underside of your video card. They light up if the video card isn't attached properly. Also, make sure you have all the PCIe power connecters from your PSU plugged into the video card.

If it comes on momentarily and then shuts down, that's not unusual.
