That is an excellent PSU and it has plenty of power for that system.

more of a question about the build from a noob, will the 4870x2 and the 4870 allow the system to see all 3 gpus? I always thought that crossfire would lower the power of the 2nd card to match the slower one.

Dual GPU card Crossfired with single (same) GPU card is possible. With SLI it is not possible.

That's a great psu. It would more than power your system. It's probably overkill. This psu is plenty to power your build and is $110 cheaper

Well that PSU is very gud...Hope you are taking the combo...
1. Antec Twelve Hundred: $179.99

2. Antec SG850: $229.99

Combo Discount: -$60.00
Combo Price: $349.98

But personally I would go for this combo...If you don mind to change your case, then even this is a gud option and will save you lot of money...

1. Corsair Memory, Inc. CMPSU-850TX: $129.99

2. Cooler Master RC-1000-KSN1-GP: $189.99

Combo Discount: -$40.00
Combo Price: $279.98

But I think you can make some changes, that can still keep the performance factor intact and improve the overall specs...
For eg.
Changing the PSU+CASE to the Corsair + Cosmos combo, will save you about $70,
Then change the Mobo to the P6T V2 Deluxe(Most favoured LGA1366 board)...saves $80

So overall $150 saved...So why not spend this on a Blue Ray burner...

That config will look better with a Blue Ray burner...
And the main thing is you are not skimping on the parts...the alternates are all the best out there...

Well just a thought...Its finally your call anyways...
