ive just had a new core i7 920, gigabyte ex58-ud3r and 3 x 2gb of corsair 1333 triple channel. i put the memory into slots 1,3 & 4 to start triple channel, however all that happens is when i turn on the computer i get a continuos booting sequence, without ever getting to the bios. when i put the memory into slots 1,2 & 3 and the computer boots, however i get bsod until i upped the memory voltage to 1.6v. does anybody know what could be wrong? btw i have the latest f5 bios for the motherboard, and all drivers up to date.

what specific memory model? the 1600 all requires 1.65v , 1333 should be happy with 1.5, but needing 1.65 isn't really unexpected.

however, filling the 3 white slots is correct.

set mem volts to 1.64
first @1.64v I would try 3 white slots
if that doesn't work
then 2 dimms in 1,3 run memtest-x86 for an hour or so, swap one of the dimms with the unused one and run again, testing to see if 1 out of 3 is bad.

Test the memory with memtest86+.

i have updated the bios to f6b, i have also changed my sata hard drive to a master drive slot, as i didnt realise id put into a slave slot. before i changed this my hard drive would always appear as a removable device in windows, now ive changed it to master it is no longer seen as a removable device. could this have caused bsod?

btw after updating to bios ver.f6b all my memory timings and voltage are set to auto and ive gone 24hrs without a bsod.

after going 24hrs and then another 8 or so hours with no problems this morning i got a bsod with irql_less_than..... whilst playing counter strike, i really need some help with this.

Sounds like you might have a bad DDR3 socket if all three sticks work fine in the other sockets.

I have the exact same mobo/CPU/RAM and I also installed the DDR3 modules in the 1,3 & 4 slots for the triple-channel function.

But I have not any problems.

BTW - did you try flashing to the new BIOS F6?
