Seagate Hard Drive not reading

Hi, so my question is for some reason when i plug my Seagate Barrarcuda 7200.11 1500GB SATA2 7200RPM 32MB 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM into my Mobo, it is not able to read it, so i was wondering if i have to install anything or download some special program to make it work? Iam currently running windows XP. So if anyone knows the answer, please get back to me. Thanks

  1. You need to create 1 or more partitions first then format it before you can use it.
If you need instructions go to: http://computershopper.com/hard-drives-burners/howto/install-a-new-hard-drive-in-five-easy-steps
It starts with installing it and goes to how to prepare it for use.
    Have fun.
  2. Thanks for replying and the guide but thats not my real problem lol I cant even get to OS cause i have 2 hard drive now, one Sata-I that iam already using that works fine and one i just bought which is this Seagate. When i plug the new one by itself or both in my Mobo, it says "Hardware initiated fail. check your device. Bios does not be installed" lol And when i try to just directly plug my hard drive in Windows, it just freezes and just do anything. So i thought there is something else that i have to do to get it up and running.
