So, basically, I just want these to run as PC3-12800.
Second, I have a few questions regarding overclocking. (I've never done it before)...
1. I've heard lots of good things about overclocking the i7 920. Would you recommend doing this on stock HSF? If so, how much? And how to do it...
2. Is it possible to OC video cards?
3. Any guides you'd recommend that tell me how to go about doing this? (Keeping in mind I've never overclocked, but I'm not dumb...I'm intuitive and tech savvy).
2nd to last thing: I'm thinking about getting this: ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) monitor. Let me know what you think, (I don't know **** about monitors), and also, (I'd be using it for photoshop, web design, C++ and XUL programming, gaming and video editing).
Lastly, what you think of my system overall. I'm thinking of grabbing a second 280 GTX, but we'll see.
check the bios, the ram is probably underclocked, bump the multiplier so the correct speed is chosen, save and reboot, if you get errors or instability slightly bump the voltage on the ram.
part 2, well get realtemp / everest to watch the core temperatures (you could also watch it in the pc health part of the bios), heh previously i would have suggested bumping the fsb but these i7's you have to bump that other thing thats new, whilst your doing this watch your ram, make sure you dont go over its rating too much or this may cause issues with stability.
yes you can overclock video cards, for now steer clear of bios modding as you'll be back asking how to unbrick a card in a couple of days.
just do a quick google search for 'nvidia 280 overclocking'
there are loooooooooooads of overclocking guides, check the stickys.
