I've built systems before, but it has been awhile since my last and was hoping I could get some advice since hardware standards have changed so much in the last few years.
I'm putting together and AMD gaming system based on the new MSI 790FX-GD70 board
http://us.msi.com/product/p_sp...l=790FX-GD70&class=mb
However I an a little confused on the ram standards used today when it comes to specific chipsets. The mobo is compatible with 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600*/1800*/2133* (OC) SDRAM, 16GB Max
So I found a RAM kit I wanted from G SKILL here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16820231225
The kit seems to be the correct voltage, timing etc but say's it's for the I7 series of CPU's. Does this mean it's incompatible with ATI chipsets/cpu's?
If it's not compatible could someone point me to a good 4gb G Skill DDR3 set that is compatible with my selected mobo? I've found a couple that MSI recommends but they are fairly expensive (Corsair) compared to G Skills prices.
Thanks for any advice,
Tony
