Ok here my spec

Asus P5W DH Delux
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
4gb of ram

my computer only reading one core, i flash the BIOS to the new update from asus but i still only see one core, could it be that my one of my core is dead? or am i missing a setting in my BIOS? i dont know much about computer so if you guys could help me i will appreciate it.

If you didn't reinstall Windows after installing the multi-core CPU, you need to do that. My guess is that Windows is running in single-core mode.

 

However, looking at your BIOS screen, you need to set the Max CPUID limit to "disabled" (enabled will make your CPU look like an old Pentium 4). That could be your problem.

 

Also, you need to "enable" the execute disable function.

Thank you Mondoman, i will try that when i get home, the CPU is been on that computer since it was built, I did upgrade the BIOS two days ago. I will try change those settings. Thank you

There is also a setting in Task Manager to show one graph per CPU/Core. Which it seems may actually be the real culprit.

 

And the images are way too small to read except the Bios screenshot.

I will post some better image, but in the task Manager the Graph per CPU/Core has a dot(like is Selected).

remove the cpu from control panel->system->device manager and do a reboot. after that you should see 2 cpu-s
by the way, remove the ACPI bridge or whatever ACPI do you got

Go to Start, Run, and type , msconfig. From there you should have something to the effect of number of processors. If only one is listed... type 2 and the second core should be unlocked. Otherwise your processor is messed up.
