Ok, i don't have much money and i simply can't play in the competitions and games i want with the frame rates i get.

I want to play games like Quake3, QuakeLive, and CS:S on DECENT settings, ( i dont care if they are low settings, as long as i get good rates)

So i am looking up parts for a decent computer that will run these games with decent to low settings with really good frame rates

( you have to realize, anything is better than what i have now)

So this is what im looking at, i really need help as this would be my first build LOL

( i already have an antec 900, i thought it looked cool and went ahead and bought it =p)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 Brisbane 2.9GHz Dual core

ATI Radeon 3850 gfx card

ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

AS far as hard drives and ram goes, i dont really have a problem understanding what i need for what type of system i want.. just the videocard, cpu, and mobo is what bothers me

thanks for all the help =)

:james

EDIT
Ok my budget for the cpu, mobo, and videocard would be 400 dollars 500 MAX (i would prefer the 350-450 side though)

CPU + GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.164882

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153137

Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151040

Just built this system, it came to a bit under $330 shipped. It will absolutely stomp the floor with the system you picked out, and the 710 clocked to 3.5 and was easy at 3.2 with an after market cooler (Xigmatek HDT-s963 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233001&Tpk=s963).

Edit: Not that we can go higher with the parts as well, so do not feel like that is the best you can get.

your mobo supports AM3 processors. my suggestion.

a) get a better CPU and the HSF for it:

CPU + HSF combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.163680
1. AMD HDZ720WFGIBOX: $145.99 (720BE x3 AM3)

2. XIGMATEK HDT-S1283: $36.99

Combo Discount: -$25.00
Combo Price: $157.98
$10.00 Mail-In Rebate

b) get the better video card and the PSU for it:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.174743
1. Thermaltake W0134RU: $94.99 (550W ATX12V Ver2.2 SLI Ready Modular Passive PSU)

2. Sapphire Technology Limited 100245L: $139.99 (ATI 4850 512MB card)

Combo Discount: -$15.00
Combo Price: $219.98
$10.00 Mail-In Rebate pdf

That would put you, after MIRs, about $370 and in your $350-450 range.
