I have installed a asus 4870x2 in my computer and since the install my computer will freeze at random times. I used to have an nvidea card but since i switched to Ati i reinstalled windows vista, I have also updated my motherboard bios. I am running out of ideas in what the problem might be. I dont think its my motherboard since i had a couple months of use with no problems using the nvidea card.

Also the vista recover menu gave me this.
Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini012109-02.dmp
C:\Users\_____\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-23640-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Users\______\AppData\Local\Temp\WER5E3D.tmp.version.txt

What power supply do you have? Manufacturer and model number.

Under load, the 4870x2 @ stock speed uses something like 265w alone. That works out to 22.1 amps just for the video card.

I don't know what the rest of your system is, but you need to have a good 650w PSU minimum. Examples are:

SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT 650W

Antec NeoPower 650 Blue 650W (made by Seasonic)
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371010

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W (made by Seasonic)
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W (not as good as PSUs made by Seasonic in my opinion.)

Forget any crappy 650w+ PSU selling for less than $75 unless it's on sale or a rebate is involved. Even then if you don't know good PSU name brands and models you are better off asking questions.

Thanks for the quick response,
I have a Tagan Itz 1100w power supply.
I am starting to believe that i might be overloading the maximum rail amps. I'm going to use a pci express 6+2pin from a different rail.
